rainbow bullet For the second year in a row, 8 York Region municipalities showed their support for Pride Week and the LGBTQ community by issuing official Proclamations.

rainbow bullet York Region granted "Official Recognition" of the week for the third year running.

rainbow bullet Vaughan Council voted on June 9th to officially Recognize Pride Week, June 15-21! This is an important first for Vaughan.

Event Schedule

Richmond Hill || Keswick || Markham || Queensville/East Gwillimbury

In addition to the following events, Pride Displays were mounted at Public Libraries in Aurora, Keswick, Markham, East Gwillimbury, Richmond Hill, and Newmarket during the month of June! Community info was made available at libraries in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Vaughan and King.

A multi-faith community celebration kicked off Pride Week, at St. Matthew's United Church, 333 Crosby Avenue in Richmond Hill, followed by a social hour hosted by PFLAG-York Region.

Keswick Event
PROM FIGHT

Prom Fight: The Marc Hall Story - June 17, 2003 in Keswick
Marilyn Byers of PFLAG-York Region introduced a special Pride Week video screening of PROM FIGHT: THE MARC HALL STORY on Tuesday, June 17 at the Wexford Drive Library in Keswick.

 

A month-long Pride display was featured in the Keswick Community Library (Wexford Drive Branch), with books from the PRIDE York Region McBean GLBTQ Literature and Reference Collection, as well as information about resources and activities in York Region.

JUST MARRIED - meet the authors

Just Married - meet the authors June 18 in Markham!
A special Pride Week book event featuring Kevin Bourassa and Joe Varnell, authors of JUST MARRIED: GAY MARRIAGE AND THE EXPANSION OF HUMAN RIGHTS took place in the Lunau Room at the Markham Community Library (Highway 7 & Markham Road), Wednesday, June 18 at 7:00 pm.

A month-long Pride display was featured in the Markham Community Library (Highway 7 & Markham Road Branch), with books from the PRIDE York Region McBean GLBTQ Literature and Reference Collection, as well as information about resources and activities in York Region.

Pride Week Wrap-Up
Baseball & Dance

Sat., June 21

Afternoon Baseball Tournament at the Queensville Community Centre Diamond 2:00 - 5:00 pm, hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Association of York Region.

Annual Pride Dance at the East Gwillimbury Community Centre, 8:00 pm, hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Association of York Region.
